ABSTRACT

Background This study aims to provide a better knowledge of COVID-19 that will aid in the formulation of future health policy by detailing the pathophysiology, case detection, and treatment, as well as management and prevention activities. Methodology A cross-sectional, prospective study was conducted at the Department of Radio-Diagnosis and Imaging, Shri B.M. Patil Medical College, Vijayapura. A total of 90 patients who presented with clinical features of COVID-19 and patients above the age of 18 years suspected of COVID-19 who were referred to the Department of Radio-Diagnosis and Imaging were included in the study. Results The classical findings which are observed on CT imaging in patients with COVID-19 include the presence of ground-glass opacities which are bilateral in distribution predominantly affecting the lower lobes with a posterior predilection. Overall, more than 33% of the patients who recovered from severe COVID-19 had lung abnormalities resembling fibrosis on follow-up imaging performed within two weeks of the commencement of the disease. These individuals were older and had more severe sicknesses during the acute period. Conclusions Chest CT can detect COVID-19 progression or secondary cardiopulmonary problems such as acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary embolism, superimposed pneumonia, or heart failure. Future research into the prognostic value of chest CT in COVID-19 is required.

ABSTRACT

Purpose of Review: Worldwide occurring Moringa plant is commonly famous as a fruit vegetable, known as drumstick or shevga all over India. The miraculous nutritional potential of the drumstick plant was already proved by worldwide research. But in the common population, it is unknown for the nutritional potential of its leaves. The majority of the population is known it only as a fruit vegetable. The Moringa leaves contain almost all essential nutrients, growth factors, vitamins, amino acids, proteins, minerals, and metals like potassium, iron, and zinc. Besides these, nowadays, plant leaves may be used to prepare various nutritional supplements and medicine. Recent Findings: Besides this, this review takes into account some joint efforts of NASI, Allahabad-funded project to use these Moringa leaves for different formulations and its popularization efforts for malnutrition eradication in tribal, i.e., development of recipes of Moringa leaves that will not only make easy preparations but also help to make habitual use of Moringa leaves today. Summary: This review describes the morphology, occurrence, and distribution of Moringa sp., chemical constitutions of Moringa leaves, its potential as anticancer, antidiabetes, and antimicrobial agent and as a nutritional supplement and the commercial future of various products.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Based on the severity of thrombocytopenia, patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) are at an increased risk of mucocutaneous or major bleeding. DISCUSSION: There has been an increased risk of ITP after administration of various vaccines like influenza, measles-mumps-rubella, hepatitis B, and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis. The pathogenesis of vaccine-related thrombocytopenia is not completely clear and is probably caused by molecular mimicry. Till date, there have been few reported cases of thrombocytopenia in the pharmacovigilance databases after patients received the Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) vaccines. CONCLUSION: Emergency physicians should be aware of the occurrence of vaccine-induced ITP in patients who present with bleeding manifestations, especially after the current boost in COVID-19 vaccination drive worldwide.
